Private Lessons & Behavior Consults:Private lessons for New Puppy/Dog, Agility training (beginner through competition), Basic Manners, Competition Obedience, Canine Good Citizen, Behavior Consults, or to discuss and work on any specific problem areas you may be having with your canine companion are available. Katrin Andberg tailors each private lesson to the individual client or family and dog. Individuals looking to address Behavior areas such as: dog to dog aggression, dog to people aggression, dog to other animal aggression, resource guarding, long term house soiling, separation anxiety, general reactivity, fear responses, and things of that nature are required to have at least one private lesson before enrolling in a group class. Behavior issues cannot be properly addressed in a group class alone and need additional 1 on 1 attention with an instructor in a less distracting and stimulating environment. The majority of behavior issues have been a long time in the making and therefore take many months to fully address and then years or life long management. Behavior problems cannot be 'fixed' over night and generally require a long term time commitment from the family wishing to change their and their dog's relationship and behavior. We require that the 1st private lesson (non-agility) be scheduled for a minimum of 60 min, though it may run 90-120 min. The 1st lesson (1-2hrs in length) is a flat $100 fee. New puppy private lessons include the cost of a copy of The Maplewood Puppy Manual. We request that all family members make every effort to attend the 1st private lesson. It is imperative that everyone in the home be on the same page when it comes to training your canine friend. Subsequent lessons are generally 30-60min in length and scheduled every one to two weeks on an as needed basis. Cost of subsequent private lessons are $70 per 60min or $40 for 30min (plus travel time if traveling to location for the lesson). If a lesson runs over the scheduled amount of time, the client is responsible for payment of the additional time. During the 1st meeting for a Behavior Consult, much of the time is spent getting a full history on your dog(s) and situation, the specific problems you would like to address, what Katrin's recommendations for change and addressing the issues would be, approximate time and monetary commitment for the family should they choose to continue working with Katrin for these specific problems will be discussed, and other potential areas to explore such as a veterinary behavior consult to address the issues presented. Most times we being exploring a behavior modification protocol during the initial Behavior Consult. |
