There are many ways that our volunteers help our organization run effectively and smoothly.  Without the tireless efforts of our volunteers we would be unable to reach many of the disabled persons we help every day.

Fundraising Committee:  Volunteers on our Fundraising Committee help us raise the much needed funds to keep MAP open.  We are currently looking for assistance with our Main Fundraiser in 2010, as well as the planning stages of our 2011 Fundraisers.  Committee Members meet to discuss various fundraising options as well as the status of current fundraising projects.  Contact volunteer@maplewooddog.com if you are interested in this Committee.

Puppy Raisers:

Puppy Raisers provide an invaluable service to Maplewood Assistance Partners, Inc.  Dogs in the MAP program are of many different breeds and sizes, and all are under 2 years of age.

Dogs chosen to be in the MAP program undergo a rigorous evaluation process to ensure that they are potential service dog quality.  We look for dogs that have easy going stable temperaments and who tend to take things in stride.  All dogs taken into the program have no history of aggression or biting.  They are also tested to see if they get along with other dogs and cats but are still more people oriented and think of other animals as a distraction.

Puppy Raisers must be able to provide a stable and positive living environment for the dog and teach the dog proper house manners and social skills.  Puppy Raisers must be willing to introduce the dog to new and varied things that he may encounter in his working life.  We require attendance at our free basic obedience classes and we cover all veterinary care through approved veterinarians and ID costs.  All of the dog's advanced training will be done by Maplewood Assistance Partners, Inc.
