Private Lessons
At Maplewood Dog Training, many owners choose to take advantage of the one on one, personalized instruction found in our private lessons. Lessons are taught by our Certified Canine Behavior Consultant, Katrin Andberg, CBCC-KA, and are tailored to each individual client and dog.
Problem Behaviors? Private lessons are an appropriate way to address a wide variety of behavior issues that dogs may be exhibiting. Problems such as, but not limited to, biting, growling, barking, nipping, food aggression, acting aggressively towards other dogs or people, fearfulness, and toileting in the house can all be addressed in private Behavior Consults. Katrin specializes in dog-on-dog aggression and reactivity, toileting problems and inappropriate elimination, resource guarding, and fear aggression. Dogs who stare, bark, lunge, or worse, at others, both on and off-leash, are her expertise. Katrin has over 15 years of professional experience accurately assessing canine behavior and temperament; she can give you the realistic and honest assessment you need to safely address your dog's serious problems.
New Puppy or Dog? Many families or individuals with a new puppy or newly adopted adult dog, chose to meet with Katrin for an initial private lesson prior to joining a group puppy smart start or manners class. For many, an initial private lesson is just what they need to start the relationship with their new pet off on the right foot. Clients may also choose to schedule a few private lessons for some additional one on one attention outside of a group manners class or instead of joining a group class. We also offer Adoption Counseling for clients considering adding a new pet to the family and who would like to ensure a successful adoption.
Group Classes Don't Fit Your Need? For many clients who find that group classes don't fit their schedule or specific needs, our private lessons can be a perfect fit. Private lessons are tailored to exactly what you would like to work on with your dog, allowing you to gain instruction in the skills that would benefit your relationship and training goals the most!
Looking for More Advanced Training? Clients seeking more advanced or competition level training can also find success in private lessons. Katrin has an extensive background and years of experience in competition agility, obedience and rally.
