The ClaraAcross AmericaHome Page
|
Well there would of course be no "Clara Across America" without well, Clara! But her pals that come along for the ride are a very important part of this adventure as well, so this page will introduce you to them all, come and gone and present! Clara- Clara, well, is the STAR OF THE SHOW! Here registered name is from the song "Lil' Miss Can't Be Wrong" and that pretty much sums Miss Clara up! Li, chose her name well. Li is a vet tech at a local hospital that has a reproduction specialist vet so has many breeder clients. One day a reputable Pembroke Welsh Corgi breeder brought in this 3 week old red and white female as there was something obviously wrong with her eye. Li said, "If she'll give me the puppy, I'll try to raise her and keep her and if she makes it, get the surgery she needs done, done." The breeder was grateful, and so Clara (named after a dog at the end of a show that Li liked to watch that went 'Quiet Clara", trust me VERY aptly named as Clair is VERY vocal!!!!), came home with Li and has been hers ever since. Her left eye did end up requiring surgery to be removed, and later on she required another surgery when a cyst formed in the socket then ruptured. BUT Clara is NOT in any way shape or form, "a Poor Dog" for having just 1 eye. As Li says "I can only imagine the trouble I'd be in if she had 2...." (because she's so darn smart and quick and just picks up everything!). Clara is the trick Queen, and is great at agility. Her weave poles are amazing because the entry is on her 'blind side' yet she manages to nail them time after time. She is one cool little corgi.
Regal- Regal was Katrin's 1st Flat-Coated Retriever, a liver boy from Sandee Cassidy then C-City Flats, and died at age 8 from Hemangiosarcoma in February 2007, very suddenly. Regal was Katrin's 1st traveling companion and together they drove to Georgia, Minnesota, Missouri, and many other states. He was the 1st "Across America" Dog in Katrin's life. And as our t-shirt says "Regal, Where the Adventure Began" because that's the truth. He was also ball obsessive, so it is only fitting that his photo is with his ever present tennis ball :-) He will be loved and missed always.
James- James is Katrin's 5yr old rescue black Flat-Coated Retriever from Pittsburgh. James has a special calling as he is Katrin's Service Dog. He has been trained to do many things that help her out with her various difficulties, including high functioning autism. He also competes in agility and rally when he feels like it.
Niche- Niche is a liver colored Flat-Coated Retriever from Sandee Cassidy in Snohomish, WA and Gondolin Retrievers. He is 3yrs old and Katrin's main performance dog doing- agility, obedience, rally, conformation, tracking and hunt tests. He is the love of Katrin's life and tries to climb in her skin, literally, constantly.
Monty- Monty is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi from Visions Cardigans, Holly Goldman-Craig, in NY. He was a breeder return for 'food aggression' and so Katrin got him in June 2007 at age 2.5 years. Katrin does herding and agility with Monty and hopes to soon begin Therapy Dog visits with him. He also LIKES to swim!!!
Ryan- Ryan is Li's newest addition, a Vizsla puppy from Patsy Dalinghaus of Copper Creek Vizslas in Malden, MA. He says he can't wait for his 1st CAA Adventure! I'm sure he'll love it from his back seat crate..........
