September, 2008- The Oil Paintings now have their own web site www.maplewooddog.com/art Wednesday September 24, 2008- Updated Obi's photo and video page with some new photos and a video of him crating himself. He's too funny!!! Mid-August, 2008- Finished James' painting. Friday June 13, 2008- We've moved! The boys and I are now located in Sharon, MA Thursday May 15, 2008- Finished The Usual View painting Thursday May 1, 2008- Finished Pheasant Dreams painting Tue April 22, 2008- Added some photos to Obi's pages and reorganized photos on James' page. Friday April 5, 2008- There's a new friend coming to the Maplewood pack. His name is Obi and he's coming home with James and I from WA on the 16th! Friday March 28, 2008- In the mail today came a large envelope from the AKC. In it was a certificate and letter stating that James has been recognized for his nomination for the ACE award (The AKC Canine Award for Excellence) and in the final running for the actual ACE award in the service dog category! The winners will be announced later this year. It was very nice to receive! I didn't know they gave certificates to the nominees and wasn't expecting it. Saturday March 22, 2008- Reworked the main page & updated the "About Us" page. May soon have a new addition to "The Boys" page as well, stay tuned.... :-) Sunday March 9, 2008- Put up a new video on Regal's page. Wednesday February 27,2008- Monty's Painting is finished. Thursday February 14, 2008- Not done much with the site as of late, but today did a little page reorganization. Should have some new photos to post soon as well as I am nearly done with Monty's Painting. In other news the NEFCRC has decided to award James the "Friend in Deed" Award at the semi-annual meeting in March, for his being my service dog the past 5 years. I am very excited. On the competition and training front, things have been rather slow, as I'm still under the weather most days, chronic illness has a way of doing that to you. Thursday November 20, 2007- Some modifications to the website. Such as the new photo border at the top of each page. Photoshop is fun!! :-) Saturday November 17, 2007- One of my agility students, Cat, has a new puppy! Strata is a sheltie, and a very cute one at that! Here are some photos from his Puppy Party today. Monday November 5, 2007- James' new service dog harness has arrived!! We've been needing this for 3 years, and finally the day has come! (HUGE thank you goes to my parents for this early birthday/Christmas gift. James and I both thank you 100 times over!!!) It is an LDS Leather American Style Guide Dog Harness! Our old one was terrible and even gave James an early soft tissue back injury! Poor boy! Plus was contributing majorly to my left arm hurting. Here is J sporting his spiffy new harness: (Such a handsome chap! And NO he is NOT going blind, I just couldn't get the 'red eye' fixer thing working right)
Wednesday October 31, 2007- Started a Memory Page for Regal. Saturday October 13, 2007- Article to be printed in the CWCA Winter 2008 newsletter about Monty! Tuesday October 9, 2007- I forgot to mention, the CWCA (Cardigan Welsh Corgi Association, of the UK! The Parent Cardi club!) asked me to write an article for their upcoming winter newsletter on Monty! The President of the club saw a post I had written on a cardi e-list about Monty and his work with a young autistic girl and wanted to know more. I just finished it today, and will post it here, once it gets approved by the CWCA newsletter editor. Hey, I promised Holly I'd get Visions on the map, I don't renig on promises. :-) Tuesday October 9, 2007- It's a Bird! It's a Plane! No! It's..................
Super Hairy Termite Dog!!! (Thank you to Cat for this graphic portrayal of the "Hairy Termite Dog" i.e. Monty! So aptly described by Kris, after he attempted to eat my $350 night guard and successfully demolished my cell phone!! Good thing I love him to bits!) Saturday October 6, 2007- Photos posted. Saturday September 22, 2007- Ena & Niche ROCK in agility! Today was the 1st day of the MAP, Inc NADAC trial that I run, except I was unable to run my own dogs. Kareena (Ena), my sister, decided to run Niche and finished his Open Touch N Go title, with a 1st place and earned more points towards Niche's Novice Superior Jumpers title. He also picked up 10 more Regular points with friend Lisa. Saturday September 8, 2007- Monty earns his 1st titles! He is now Visions Okemo CGC, TDI! Not bad for such little training due to mom being so sick for 2 months. The testers LOVED him!!!! Would also like to brag for Monty's relative Ransom owned by our agility friend Kris Jansen, who finished their CPE CATCH today!!! Sat-Mon Labor Day Weekend 2007- Lisa, the pups (including Ryan now!!) and I went out to Killowag, NY to the NAE NADAC trial. I've been really sick so James was pulled and Niche was down to 3 runs a day and it was Monty's début trial!!! Lisa was AWESOME and ran Niche in like every class and Qed a number of times. I ran him once in jumpers and Qed, I literally moved 3 feet from start to finish. God that dog's got great distance and control! And Monty did wonderful! We got out 1st blue ribbon (now hanging on his breeder's wall of fame) in Novice Jumpers. He did great in both Touch N Go and Tunnelers and taught me a bit about Cardi humor (see his blog). No Qs but showed me he's got the speed, drive and endurance to be that agility cardi I've dreamed of. Tuesday August 21, 2007- Clara Across America now has her own home page! www.maplewooddog.com/caa Take a look! Sign our guest book! Donate to the cause! Pretty soon we'll be selling t-shirts! Tuesday August 14, 2007- Things have been very busy here. The Clara Across America adventure reached 25 states adding West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina to the count! That page has yet to be updated, because on the way home I got the Migraine from hell!!! Which involved 3 hospital stays including an admission to the Neurology unit and heavy duty drugs. That started Friday August 3rd and is still going on still. BUT James was the Super Service Dog and helped to keep my sanity in the hospital and now has an updated Super-Duper Wonder Dog Service Dog Page. Thank you also to my mother, who was Super Mom and to my best friend Lisa who (after we picked out 2 Vizsla puppies, 1 of which will become Ryan) drove me back to the ER for stay #3 (you know you are in pain when 2 morphine drips don't even dull it or give you a high! Ugh, please pray to god you are never in that much agony ever for day after day after day). I am happy to report that as of today, I am doing better (imagine that, you take your pills when your supposed to as you're supposed to and the pain decreases, funny how that works!), cross your fingers it isn't a fluke! Tuesday July 24, 2007- Clara Across America updated Saturday July 14, 2007- Today was Monty's 1st herding experience!!! Check out the photos and his blog. Saturday July 7, 2007- Did you know supposedly today is a lucky day? 07-07-07. If that is good luck, then it's good that Holly and I passed all paper work- AKC, AVID, contract etc making Visions Okemo aka Monty officially belonging to Katrin Andberg. Yeah!! Well Niche went RWD, again, to the major. Judge told Keith that had Niche been a bit more 'peppy' walking into the ring he would have had the major. Oh well. Monty went too and did excellent. And my wonderful friend Lisa and of course Clara, drove as I am having issues driving on the highway again. I also added a page for my Oil Paintings. Check it out and LMK what you think. Tuesday July 3, 2007- Monty now has the basics of A-frame, Teeter, Tunnels and Jumps! He'll be giving that 8" jump height class a run for their money!!!! Can't wait to get photos! Thursday June 28, 2007- Monty is here to stay!!!! Holly and I discussed it on the phone and Monty is now a Maplewood Dog! Check out his Training Diary to see how he is progressing.
Wednesday June 20, 2007- Sad day, Destiny has come into season so will be returning to NY on Sunday as planned. I can't have an in heat corgi bitch and an intact flat coat (Niche) at the same time, puppies would look VERY strange! But it isn't all bad :-) I will be getting a 2yr old black and white male, Monty, for the interim. You can check out Monty's page and he looks very cute from the photos Holly has sent me (I even have new born pictures as he was born at Holly's). So Sunday will be a sad but also joyous day. We will all miss the DesiDog and her funny daily antics. Saturday May 12, 2007- Niche passed his WC today at the Yankee Golden Retriever Club test! He nailed the land double and the 1st water single. On the second water single the duck drifted to the edge of the water, right under the gunner's feet. He had to get out of the water, to the land in order to find it but he didn't give up. One of the judge's said, "That dog has a lot of heart". And he does, he never gives up on anything he does. We also participated in the Singles Stake and placed 2nd! A very good day for the Brown Bullet! This was our 1st field title, but won't be our last! Sunday May 6, 2007- Today we went to the NAE NADAC trial in Greenfield, MA. Niche and James did well. They both finished their Open Tunnelers titles, so James is now in Elite! Niche will be staying in Open to get his Superior. Niche also got a Regular Q and a Chances Q. Thursday April 26, 2007- "Clara Across America" page is done. Check it out to see all the amazing places we've been! Sunday April 22, 2007- Today Niche finished his Canadian CD with a 2nd place! 3 straight shows and respectable scores! Saturday April 21, 2007- We are spending the weekend in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada and having a terrific time! Today Niche earned 2 legs towards his Canadian CD, with a 2nd and 3rd place! He also went Reserve WD to a major in breed.
Saturday April 14, 2007- Today was the 1st day of the MAP NADAC trial, our 1st outdoor event of the season. This is also my show that I put on so needless to say my dogs do not get the attention they deserve during it. Despite all of that, James and Niche did fantastic today. James Qed in Open Chances and Open Touch N Go. Niche Qed in Novice Regular, Novice Chances and 2 rounds of Open Touch N Go! Tomorrow the weather is not supposed to be so nice, so we'll see if I run them. Sunday April 8, 2007- Niche earned his 1st RAE leg today with a 2nd place in the Excellent B class and score of 100! Perfect! Got a 97 in Advanced B to finish the leg. Saturday April 7, 2007- Photos posted of Niche at field class and the dogs at the bog (including Destiny) Friday April 6, 2007- Destiny comes to Maplewood! Destiny's mom, Holly, brought her to the Springfield dog shows where she passed her on to me for obedience and agility training for the next few months. She seems to be in shock with all the life upheaval and is being on her best behavior, I hear reports that in reality she is a terror! Guess we'll just have to see :-). Also at the show, Niche did very well picking up his last Excellent leg and adding the title of RE (Rally Excellent) to his name. In addition, he went Reserve WD to a 3pt major. May 21, 2006 - March, 2007 Niche earned his 1st conformation point out of the Open Dog class at the Vacationland Dog Show in Maine. On December 3, 2006 at the Worcester County Kennel Club dog show in Fitchburg, Niche picked up point # 2 with Best of Winners. And point #3 the weekend after at the Boston Shows going BOW again! At the Mohawk Valley Kennel Club in NY on Feb 3, 2007 Niche goes BOW for 2 more points bringing his count to 5 and the next day went Best Opposite Sex, beating a male special for point #6! He won point #7 at the New England Sporting Group Association shows in March. April 22, 2006 Niche passed his Beginner Retriever Test put on by Jim Barry (www.ridogguy.com) who is our hunt instructor and through The Gundog Club (http://www.thegundogclub.co.uk/home.htm) a British gun dog group. He did fantastic!! Brought every retrieve to hand and was steady on every throw. Also did great on his obedience part of the test, did it all off-leash. |
