Ryan is a long awaited Vizsla puppy. He was just born (I was practically there for the delivery! Mom, Nellie, was having contractions when Katrin and I left the house) with breeder Patsy Dalinghaus of Copper Creek Vizslas there every step of the way.
Living, and working with a Sporting breed, especially a pointer, is very different for me. I have always had dogs that were either full or part Herding breed- Lucy and Daisy having German Shepherd Dog mixed in and Clara being a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Ryan's "head in the clouds" mentality, can be a challenge for sure some days, but he's such a happy go-lucky guy that one can't help but smile through the frustration.
At over a year old now, Ryan's agility and obedience training is coming along nicely. He has an incredibly long stride and is super fast, and as my instructor and friend Katrin says, "Ryan isn't Clara, he won't save your butt!" He is absolutely making me a better handler! We hope to begin trialing in NADAC agility in Spring 2009.
One of my dreams with Ryan was to have a dog to try conformation with. Ryan and I began his show career in Fitchburg in early November 2008 in the 12-18 month dog class. He will be limitedly shown in the local area as my time allows.
Ryan earned his CGC on May 25, 2008!
